“Fix it in the mix” is a saying that got popularized in the technical boom of VSTs. Before this, session musicians made all the difference (and they still do!). The recording, or tracking stage of a record is ever so important, but these days digital sounds have taken up a big space in music production. A new era of music started when DSP took a major place in the production, recording and development of sound. In today’s world, computing power is so readily-available that everyone is able to produce music right from their own bedroom. No phyisical instruments are needed for many different types of music, nor is there the need to play and record instruments. This has lead to a philosophy of “fix it in the master”, where digital productions and mixing go hand in hand and the ‘final touch’ is done in the mastering stage.
But I believe that the freedom of working with stems and ability to add effects is a better way to improve the way your music sounds. Therefore I will use a combination of digital software and vintage analog equipment to mixdown your music and make sure your tracks stand out!
